The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, has said it is committed to promoting innovation, creativity, and inclusion among People with Disabilities.

The General Manager of LASODA, Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, who was represented by the Director of the Medical Rehabilitation, Mobility Aids and Appliances Department in the agency, Eniola Olukanni-Abokhai, stated this during the 2025 Ability Expo and Talent Hunt held in Somolu.

According to a statement on Friday, Oyetunde-Lawal reaffirmed LASODA’s commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and equal opportunities for all.

She added that PWDs were not defined by their limitations, but skills, talents, and contributions to society.

Oyetunde-Lawal also appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, “for his unwavering support of inclusive initiatives, and acknowledged the contributions of caregivers, partners, and the PWD community.”

On his part, the Director of Social Development and Integration, Akeem Kelani, commended the creativity displayed by members of the disability community and assured them of the state government’s support towards fostering a more inclusive society.

“The 2025 Ability Expo and Talent Hunt further reaffirmed the state’s vision of building a Lagos where no one is left behind, regardless of physical or social limitations,” he said.

The event also featured a lecture by Mrs Morenikeji Omaiboje, titled “Sensitising PWDs against Trafficking in Persons and Irregular Migration,” in which she addressed the vulnerability of PWDs to exploitation and offered practical steps toward awareness and prevention.

The event also featured a vibrant talent hunt competition in which participants engaged in dancing and singing contests.
