A 23-year-old man wanted in connection with the Aug. 18 shooting death of an 18-year-old in central Lubbock was arrested by federal authorities Wednesday in Oklahoma, according to police.

Kendrick “Skrilla” Taylor, who was included in the list of Texas’ most wanted fugitives in September, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force about 11:30 p.m. at a hotel in Tulsa, according to a police news release.

He was wanted on a murder charge in the shooting death of Lawrence Brantley Aug. 18 in the 1900 block of 44th Street.

Taylor, who has prior arrests for charges that include aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful carrying of a weapon, theft of a firearm and assault causing bodily injury, was added to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s list of 10 most wanted fugitives.

Kendrick Taylor, 23, has been added to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s list of most wanted fugitives. He is wanted in connection with the Aug. 18 shooting death of Lawrence Brantley.

The warrant for his arrest stems from a Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit investigation that began after patrol officers responding to a shots fired call close to 4 a.m. Aug. 18 at a home in the 1900 block of 44th Street found Brantley dead at the scene, a police news release states.

Witnesses told investigators with the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit that Brantley and about a dozen other people were at a house in the area when Brantley got into an argument with someone. The argument escalated into a fight that ended with gunshots, the release states.

The release did not disclose the subject of the argument.
