A newly appointed member of the Lagos State University Governing Council, Bode Makanjuola, has pledged to serve the institution with integrity and commitment.

Makanjuola, who was named among the board members by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the state-owned university.

Sanwo-Olu had in October approved the appointment of an 11-member council for LASU, with the decision taking effect on October 31, 2025.

The approval was communicated in a letter signed by the state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro.

The letter stated that the council would be chaired by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Babatunde Ogala, while Oluseyi Badmus, Makanjuola, Mojisola Taiwo, Shaffudeen Amuwo, and Rafiu Ebiti would serve as members.

Others include Kofo Etti, Farouk Gumel, Adenike Akanbi, Biodun Hundeyin, and Remi Desalu.

Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, Makanjuola, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Caverton Offshore Support Group, described his appointment as a privilege to serve an institution critical to the future of students and the broader community.

“I remain committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, servant leadership, and impactful governance,” he said.

He thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for the confidence reposed in him and said he looked forward to supporting LASU’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and inclusive growth. He also commended the university’s leadership and staff for their dedication.

Makanjuola further noted that education remained central to the development of any society, while expressing appreciation to his family, mentors, friends and colleagues for their support.

The statement also highlighted his academic background, noting that he attended Adesoye College, Offa, and later proceeded to King’s College Taunton, Somerset, United Kingdom, for his A-levels between 1994 and 1996. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leicester (1996–2000) and a Master’s in Shipping Trade and Finance from City University Business School, UK.
