Man charged with assaulting officer in Georgia

GILMER COUNTY, GA (WSPA) – The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office reported that one man was arrested after he assaulted a police officer.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. on Friday September 12, Captain Brantley Worley of the McCaysville Police Department was critically injured while responding to a call for service. The suspect allegedly fled the scene on 1st street.

The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey. The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office said Ramsey was eventually taken into custody. Ramsey was charged with aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer.

Captain Worley remains in critical condition at this time.
