A 38-year-old man was arrested on a murder charge in Alabama nearly four months after he allegedly fatally shot a man outside a bar in Central El Paso, authorities said.
Terrence Mathews was extradited from Alabama to El Paso in connection with the June fatal shooting of 31-year-old Damian Arce in the parking lot of Chit Chat Bar & Lounge, El Paso Police Department spokesperson Officer Adrian Cisneros said in a news release.

Mathews was booked into the El Paso County jail on Tuesday, Sept. 23, on a $1 million bond, jail records show. He remains in jail. No attorney is listed for him in court records.
El Paso Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit investigators obtained an arrest warrant for murder, leading to his extradition to El Paso from Alabama, the news release states.

El Paso Police Department officers were conducting a bar check about 1 a.m. on June 1 at Chit Chat Bar & Lounge, located in the 4800 block of Dyer Street, when they heard a gunshot outside in the parking lot, a news release states.
Officers found Arce with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was taken to University Medical Center of El Paso, where he later died.

An investigation revealed Arce was shot after allegedly getting into an altercation with Mathews, who fled the scene shortly after, a news release states.
No further information has been released.
