A man was kicked off a 10-day Royal Caribbean cruise after he allegedly assaulted another passenger, but his family didn’t let that ruin their vacation.
The 44-year-old Australian passenger was sailing on the Anthem of the Seas when the incident occurred just a few days into the voyage, according to Cruisehive and New Zealand news outlet the Otago Daily Times. The passenger allegedly assaulted another man who was traveling on the Quantum-class cruise ship after the pair got into an altercation, the Daily Times reports.
A spokesperson for the New Zealand Police told PEOPLE in a statement that officers were alerted of the incident around 9:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, Nov. 13, and police met the ship after it docked at Port Chalmers in Dunedin, New Zealand.
“Officers attended and spoke with those involved, and following this the alleged offender was given a warning. He was also escorted off the ship,” the statement added.

The Daily Times, citing the police, reported that the other passenger involved received medical attention on board due to a cut on his nose.
While the alleged assailant was forced to leave the vessel and find his own way back home to Australia, his family stayed on the voyage, the outlet reports.
Anthem of the Seas first departed from Sydney, Australia on Monday, Nov. 10, and is set to arrive back at the same city on Thursday, Nov. 20, according to CruiseMapper. Along with Dunedin, the cruise stops at Fiordland National Park, Lyttelton-Christchurch, Wellington and Picton, all in New Zealand.
