After a mostly sunny week that saw highs go from the 80s to the coldest weather yet this fall, Saturday will see a mixed forecast in Connecticut ahead of a weekend nor’easter expected to bring strong winds and extended period of rain, the National Weather Service said.
Skies will range from partly sunny to mostly cloudy, which will be a stark departure from Friday’s sun and puffy, white clouds.
Saturday’s temperatures will be mild, after Friday morning brought the first widespread frost to Connecticut. Highs for the day will top out in the mid to upper 60s, after overnight lows in the 40s for the interior and the 50s along the coast.
Winds will start out mild with high pressure over the area. However, as the day goes on into the late afternoon and evening hours, winds will pick up with gusts up to around 15 mph expected late in the day.
With more moisture present in the air, rain could also develop as early as Saturday morning, the weather service said. Chances of rain increase as the day goes on, with rain likely on Saturday night.
Sunday will then see rain and wind set in as the nor’easter makes its way into the area.
Saturday’s forecast by region
