Goods and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following fire incident that occurred in a variety store in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
PUNCH Online gathered that the incident occurred at Radex variety store, Bolanta Area, Oja-Igbo in Ogbomoso.
According to impeccable sources, the incident occurred on Friday around 10pm.
Our Correspondent learnt that the fire incident was caused by a power surge, which ravaged goods and properties worth millions of naira.
Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident through a statement made available to the PUNCH Online on Saturday.
Akinwande, in the statement, however, noted that no life was lost to the incident.
“On getting to the scene of the incident, we met a variety store that was engulfed by fire. We quickly swung into action and doused the fire within the shortest period of time, and educated people on fire prevention in our community.
“No casualty was recorded, but the fire affected only one shop in the complex. The fire was as a result of a power surge. The appliance returned to the station by 22:50hrs, and on standby,” Akinwande said.
