Oct. 27 (UPI) — A man in Minnesota was arrested after an alleged “murder-for-hire” plot against U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on social media.
Tyler Maxon Avalos of St. Paul, Minn., was apprehended earlier this month and charged for threatening Bondi in a TikTok video in which he appeared to put a $45,000 bounty on America’s chief law enforcement officer.
The post, reported Oct. 9 to FBI officials, displayed Bondi’s photo with a red sniper-scope dot on her forehead.
“Wanted: Pam Bondi. Reward: 45,000. Dead or Alive (preferably dead),” the post text read.
The FBI traced the account to Avalos, who is either 29 or 30, according to reports.
Avalos has a criminal history and is tied to anarchist-linked posts and a frequently asked question book for anarchists, records insicate.
According to court documents, Avalos has a 2022 felony stalking conviction, a 2016 felony third-degree domestic battery conviction in Florida and a misdemeanor domestic assault conviction in Minnesota that same year.
Meanwhile, Avalos made his initial appearance earlier this month before a federal judge in Minnesota. He was charged with interstate transmission of a threat to injure another person.
Avalos was released from custody last week on a personal recognizance bond.
The alleged plot was revealed weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump applied public pressure on Bondi to weaponize the U.S. Department of Justice to charge Trump’s perceived political foes and after Bondi’s grilling on Capitol Hill by lawmakers.
