The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom in Delta State, His Majesty Dr. Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, has lauded the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Ofoni, for building and equipping an ultra-modern cottage hospital at Iteregbi community in the locality.
The traditional ruler while speaking at the commissioning of the cottage hospital on Monday noted with delight that the Local Government chairman has shown commitment to the people of the area by championing their cause.
“I must express my deepest appreciation to you and your Council. Your commitment to the people of this area is evident. You didn’t just approve a project; you championed a cause, and the result is this beautiful, functional facility that will save lives and bring quality healthcare closer to our homes.
‘’Thank you for your leadership and foresight. You have commissioned many projects in your less than two years in office”, the monarch stated.
He added, “Today is a day of profound joy and thanksgiving in Uvwie Kingdom. We are not just dedicating a building; we are inaugurating a new chapter of health and well-being for our community.
‘’ This magnificent, well equipped Cottage Hospital stands here as a testament of what we can achieve when government and community work together towards a common goal.
“Hon. Chief Anthony Ofoni, our Chairman, Uvwie Local Government Council who initiated, completed and equipped this project, I must express my deepest appreciation to you and your Council. Your commitment to the people of this area is evident”.
The monarch therefore implored the staff of the new hospital to “treat the facility with care and treat the people with compassion” noting that their kindness “will be as vital as the medicine you dispense”.
He urged the people of Uvwie Kingdom, particularly Iteregbi Community, to “utilize the hospital wisely, keep it clean and see it as a community asset to be protected and cherished”.
e also used the opportunity to express gratitude to the Governor of Delta State “for the massive infrastructure development currently transforming our entire State and, specially, our Kingdom”.
Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, who performed the commissioner ceremony on behalf of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori commended “the new generation Council Chairmen in Delta State” for the innovations they are bringing into local administration saying “they have indeed been adding value”.
“You have done very well. The present Local Government Council Chairmen are proving doubting Thomases wrong. They have not disappointed us.
‘’ I encourage you all to keep up the good work by serving the people well and also adding value to the lives of the people”, the Deputy Governor said.
Speaking earlier, Chief Anthony Ofoni, Chairman of Uvwie LGA reeled out some of the achievements of his administration since inception of office including the construction of 736.6 meters perimeter fencing of the Effurun Market to prevent traders from displaying their warescon the road, thereby obstructing the free flow of traffic; engagement of over 150 women to sweep Effurun major roads daily; as well as rehabilitation of failed portions of roads across the local government area, among others.
