Multiple people were struck by gunfire during a shooting at a Mormon Church in Michigan.
An “active shooter” attacked the Church of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 28, the Grand Blanc Township Police Department said in a social media statement.
According to police, “There are multiple victims and the shooter is down. There is NO threat to the public at this time.” The exact number of those injured, as well as whether there were any fatalities, was not shared.
Authorities added that the church, located on McCandlish Road, “is actively on fire,” though a cause for the blaze was not given. They pleaded with locals, “PLEASE AVOID THE AREA!”
“For people on site, the reunification site is the pavilion to the north. Offsite reunification will be at Trillium theater at Holly and McCandlish,” the Grand Blanc Township Police Department said.
