A New Jersey teenager was found in Louisiana after being trafficked and sexually assaulted, leading to three arrests and likely more charges being filed, according to authorities.
The 14-year-old was considered a runaway until investigators located the teen in Shreveport this week, city police said Thursday.
Three people – Daiquan Blackman, Malina Caldwell and Keyana Anderson – are each charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, Shreveport police said. They also face charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Caldwell and Anderson are separately charged each with one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, police said.
Shreveport police said the child was “involved in a violent sexual incident with multiple individuals,” but did not elaborate further. New Jersey State Police have joined the investigation, Shreveport authorities said. Neither agency immediately responded to an emailed request for further comment from NJ Advance Media.”
Authorities were searching for Blackman, prompting investigators to obtain search warrants for an apartment in Shreveport’s outskirts, police said. He was arrested at the apartment complex around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Caldwell and Anderson were also arrested in the investigation, police said. It was unclear if both were taken into custody at the apartment.
Shreveport police expect additional charges to be filed in the case. The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting.
