A centenarian and founder of Blessed and Faith Foster Home Orphanage, Blessing Duke, has commended the Nigerian Navy for its humanitarian support and concern in giving hope to the hopeless.
Duke gave the commendation on Tuesday in Calabar when the participants of Course 9 of the Nigeria War College visited the orphanage home and supported the home with various food items, beverages, and detergents.
Duke said the support will not only sustain the children for a period of time, but also given them hope that they are not forgotten by the society.
She said, “I am very thankful of you and sincerely appreciate you for remembering these children and also given them hope for a better tomorrow.”
“This gesture of remembering the children will not only sustain them within a period of time, but this kind gesture has also given them hope to know and believe that they are not forgotten by the society”, Duke added.
Earlier in his remarks, the Course President, Commander Umar Abdullahi, said that the support was part of annual donation by the college to celebrate their graduation.
According to him, “the support is meant to give the orphans hope that they are not forgotten and there is a greater hope for a brighter future.”
He noted that the course 9 had 30 participants, including officers from the Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ghana Navy.
“This visit is also meant to remind them that their situation today is not a determinant of their tomorrow”, Abdullahi stated.
“As customary, we chose to celebrate our graduation with them for them to know that they are loved and not forgotten,” he added.
Similarly, Mrs NkoyoAnado, who noted that over 300 persons have passed through the orphanage home founded in 1970, said Naval support have made them relevant.
“You have given us hope today. You have been our father today, and you have been our mother today.
All this is because God laid in your heart to do this. I am not just a leader, but I am also a product of this home. It is this home that made me what I am today, and It is your services like this that have given me the courage to be who I am today.”Anado said.
“I am not just an ordinary person, but I am a strong woman built and led by our granny and founder.
She has been a very firm and a strong foundation to me. She has been able to sacrifice everything for me and other children to go to school, and we have achieved that height”, she added.
She stated that children from the orphanage are only challenged with discrimination in the society, adding that the humanitarian visit from Navy has given them hope for a greater and better future.
