The Nigerian Education Loan Fund said it has disbursed N6,972,000 to support 10 students at the African Aviation and Aerospace University in Abuja.

The Fund announced this in a statement released on Tuesday.

“We are pleased to announce the disbursement of ₦6,972,000.00 to 10 beneficiaries at African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, Nigeria,” it said, reaffirming its commitment to supporting educational institutions and empowering students.

Acknowledging the receipt in a statement signed by its Registrar, Mustapha Abdul, the management of AAAU said the fund was disbursed on Monday, 21 July 2025, in support of our ten students.

“We deeply appreciate this timely intervention, which will significantly ease the financial burdens of our beneficiaries and enhance their ability to focus on their academic pursuit,” the school said.

NELFUND was established under the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on April 3, 2024, to provide sustainable higher education and skill development opportunities for Nigerian youth.

On Monday, the Federal Government said it has disbursed over ₦59 billion to students through the NELFUND, with more than 600,000 students onboarded.

Stating this during a briefing in Asaba, the National Orientation Agency’s director-general, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, reiterated the government’s commitment that no qualified Nigerian should be denied tertiary education for lack of fees.
