MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — In its first year on the water, Twisted Tiki Cruises out of Milford is turning heads for its laid-back charm and unique experience on Connecticut waters.
Owner 26-year-old Tanner Gorgelos has always loved being out on the water, taking jobs as a yacht captain in Greenwich and West Palm Beach, Florida.
“When I was down in Palm Beach, I saw some of the tiki cruises down there … I saw how much people loved it and I knew we didn’t really have anything like that up here,” Gorgelos said.
Quickly after launching the business this summer, customers resonated with the concept, booking out cruises most weekends.
“Summer has been great … can’t complain! The weather’s been awesome, we’ve had a ton of people come out,” Gorgelos said. “Everything we hoped it would be, it has become, so I couldn’t be happier.”
Each 90 minute cruise brings you along the Housatonic River. Passengers are allowed to bring their own snacks and beverages of choice, or enjoy snacks provided on board. Hard liquor in bottles or handles are not allowed.
With the amount of reaction from customers already, family friends say they’re looking forward to seeing what next boating season will bring.
“I think its amazing, if you look at their website and just how many cruises fill up so quickly,” Mike Scagliarini said. “I think its really unique especially for Milford.”
Gorgelos said he hopes to continue to offer cruises through October, so customers can enjoy fall foliage.
