New York City is promising a fun and safe October for everyone in the Halloween spirit.

The city’s Department of Transportation announced the return of its annual “Trick-or-Streets” program on Monday, as it cut the ribbon on a new pedestrian plaza at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, Queens.

It marks the fourth year of the program, which will turn open streets, pedestrian plazas and other corridors throughout the city into places filled with Halloween spirit leading up to October 31.

This year, the seasonal festivities will be brought to a record number of locations, more than 137, throughout the five boroughs.

“We are kicking off our ‘Trick-or-Streets’ in 137 locations, the largest number of ‘Trick-or-Street’ locations that we have done in the last four years,” said New York City DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez.

Neighborhoods can enjoy music, arts and crafts and other spooky activities without having to worry about traffic on city streets.

The themed events will begin on Friday, Oct. 17, and continue through Friday, Oct. 31.

You can find a full list of “Trick-or-Streets” events online.
