Non-governmental organisation, the Centre for Development, Health and Rights, has unveiled its mission to champion the rights and well-being of rural women, children, and Persons with Disabilities through advocacy in development, healthcare, and social justice.

The grassroots organisation said it is committed to building the voices of marginalised and excluded groups in Nigeria’s underserved communities.

In a statement on Sunday signed by its Executive Director, Moses Omidiora, CEDHAR said its core aim is to foster access to justice, equitable healthcare, social accountability, and sustainable livelihoods, especially for vulnerable populations.

The statement read, “The launch of CEDHAR marks a bold step toward a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.

“We are here to challenge systems of exclusion, promote grassroots empowerment, and work hand-in-hand with communities, institutions, and policymakers to uphold human dignity and opportunity for all.”

He stated that CEDHAR’s approach integrates development, health, and human rights in its work with communities to dismantle cycles of poverty, marginalisation, and social injustice. The organisation says it places special emphasis on people-centered and justice-driven interventions.

“Our development model is people-centered and justice-driven. CEDHAR is committed to ensuring that every intervention we implement reflects that belief, from legal aid and policy engagement to grassroots organizing and youth leadership,” Omidiora added.

He explained that the organisation would advocate for equity and social inclusion by promoting the rights of women, children, and PWDs, while also strengthening economic self-reliance through livelihood support and social entrepreneurship programmes.

“CEDHAR’s thematic areas include access to justice, gender equality, youth development, good governance, economic inclusion, and human rights education. It also aims to work with both government and civil society actors to create inclusive systems that reflect the needs of local communities.

“Our vision is to see a world where all people, regardless of status, can enjoy their rights, access quality healthcare, and live in dignity,” the statement said.

The organisation added that it would continue to engage in grassroots advocacy and form strategic partnerships to build stronger, more resilient communities across the country.
