A different kind of mob
I find it ridiculous that I will never actually own my home, and no one in my family will ever own it.
Property tax is like paying protection money to the mob. You only have the illusion of ownership.
This is extortion.
I have paid half of my house off, but my payment goes (with having taxes escrow) up every two years because some bureaucrat’s salary isn’t big enough.
The scam seems to be that the state is working hand in hand with the mortgage companies to rip homeowners off.
Here is the heart of the matter. It’s not a funding problem. It’s a management problem. We need a department of government efficiency at the state level. Root out the waste, fraud, abuse and flat-out thieves.
Property tax forced upon someone outside the confines of the state government would be considered CRIMINAL.
We’re actually being punished for trying to survive.

Democrats fighting for health care
Democrats are trying to claw back some of the subsidies and tax breaks that helped more and more Americans afford health coverage. That is what the government shutdown is essentially about.
President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans have wanted to decimate Obamacare since its creation.
They used to say so quite openly. This year, they have quietly created a spending bill full of provisions designed to gut Obamacare.
Because of the Republican bill, according to Steven Rattner in The New York Times, “… almost 14 million Americans could lose their health insurance altogether over the next decade — an estimated 3.3 million in 2026 alone.”
Regular citizens will lose the coverage they need, while the richest people in America will receive tax breaks they do NOT need.
That’s not right, and it’s what Democrats are trying to fix before it’s too late.

Time to lead, Rep. Carey
Congressman Mike Carey speaks after it was announced that he won Ohio U.S. House District 15 race during the Ohio Republican party’s election night event at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 in Columbus, OH.
If Rep. Mike Carey expects to be paid during the government shutdown, he needs to return to D.C. this weekend and start negotiating with his fellow GOP colleagues who control both branches of Congress. A protracted government shutdown will strangle Ohioans.
As the shutdown passes from “weeks” into “months,” the approximately 1.5 million Ohioans who rely on the federal supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) and the related special nutrition assistance for women infants and children (WIC) will suffer as these critical, life sustaining resources dry up. That’s more than 740,000 households who are counting on Carey to lead.
Not interested in helping SNAP or WIC recipients?
Why not help the thousands Ohio farmers who have bumper crops and no market? Of Ohio’s approximately 29 million acres of land, 49% is dedicated to agricultural use. Tariffs are burying Ohio’s farmers. Congress can protect vulnerable families and defend farmers with one vote.
Stop letting the White House run Congress. Support Ohio families and Ohio farmers. The clock is ticking. It’s time to lead.
