A pedestrian was killed in Arizona after a swarm of bees got loose inside a pickup truck, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash.
The incident occurred in Mesa, a city about 20 miles east of downtown Phoenix, on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 8, local news outlets Fox 10, News 13 and KOLN reported, citing authorities.

The driver of the truck was transporting the bees when they got loose and began to sting, per News 13 and KOLN.
The driver then suffered a medical issue, which caused them to hit a pedestrian and crash into a pole, the outlets said.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, and both the driver and pedestrian were taken to a local hospital.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead, while the driver was treated for minor injuries, per Fox 10.
The identities of the pedestrian and driver have not yet been released at this time.

It is currently unknown whether the driver of the truck will be charged in relation to the incident.
PEOPLE reached out to the Mesa Police Department (MPD) for comment on Sunday, Nov. 9, but did not receive an immediate response.
