A woman allegedly pepper-sprayed passengers — including a toddler — on a San Antonio River Walk barge Saturday night, prompting a police search after she fled the scene.
The woman grew enraged after the boat operator asked her to turn down the volume on her phone on the evening of Nov. 15, leading the operator to stop the Go Rio barge so she could get off, the San Antonio Police Department told PEOPLE.
Once she stepped off the boat, the department said, she allegedly began yelling at passengers before pepper-spraying eight people, including a toddler, and running away.
Police arrived soon after the attack around 8:34 p.m., according to the department — but the woman had already fled the scene. The department told PEOPLE that no arrests have been made and the suspect has not been located.

The encounter was captured in viral TikTok videos showing passengers wiping their eyes as a baby cries — footage KSAT, News4SA and KENS5 each reported has drawn millions of views.
All three outlets reported that the confrontation escalated after riders and the operator asked the woman to lower the volume on her phone, and each outlet noted that pepper spray appeared to be hanging from the woman’s purse in the video.
A nearby gift shop employee told KENS5 that she witnessed the aftermath and said it was the worst incident she had seen in four years working along the River Walk.
“You don’t really expect anything like that to happen,” she told the outlet. “You expect to have a good time with your family and everything, not get attacked.”
“How are you going to pepper-spray a baby?” another bystander said, per KSAT.
The outlets reported that the woman walked onto a nearby bridge and continued spraying passengers before running off.
The San Antonio Police Department told PEOPLE the case is being investigated as an assault. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department.
