MCKEE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) posted on social media after reports of an active shooter at a Kentucky church on Wednesday night proved to be untrue.
Deputies wrote that Jackson County 911 dispatchers were “flooded” just after 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 8 with reports of an active shooter at the Bond Holiness Church Fellowship Hall on the 5000 block of KY-290.
LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:
Deputies, paramedics, state and local police, and other first responders rushed to the fellowship hall, but no one was there, and no shots had been fired.
JCSO officials emphasized that there was no danger to the public.

“This post is not to garner fear, or cause any public alarm to any citizen of Jackson County,” deputies wrote. “This post is an effort in our part of being transparent to the public, and ensuring that public safety is at our utmost priority.”
Authorities said more details about the false active shooter report would be released at a later time.
