Nine dogs have been rescued from a house fire in San Bernardino, California.
On Monday, Nov. 17, the San Bernardino County Fire confirmed in a Facebook release that they received a report of a fire on the 4000 block of David Avenue on Sunday at around 4:20 a.m.
While the occupants of the address were located safely outside the property when emergency responders arrived, “several dogs were still trapped inside the home.”
“At this point, smoke and flames were showing from the front of the house. Immediate action was needed,” officials wrote in the release. “Firefighters simultaneously conducted a fire attack as well as a search operation.”
In footage shared by the department, rescuers use torch lights and hoses as they tackle the fire.
One firefighter uses a saw to cut through the roof of the home, which is engulfed in flames.

The social media video also shows firefighters carrying out armfuls of puppies from the burning home.
“The crews were successful in saving 3 adult dogs and 6 puppies,” San Bernardino County Fire shared. “Unfortunately, one dog did not survive due to significant smoke conditions despite the efforts of the paramedics who delivered treatment.”
They added that “all occupants safely evacuated the home with no injuries” and that no firefighters were injured during the operation.
“A total of four engine companies, one truck company, one battalion chief, one public information officer, and one fire investigator responded to the scene,” the agency continued. “The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.”

The department then reminded the public to “evacuate immediately during a fire and to never re-enter a burning structure.”
“Get out. Stay out,” it concluded.
