UPDATE: The Coast Guard has suspended its search pending further developments, the agency said at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, as rescuers had not located the woman.
Crews are searching for a 25-year-old woman who jumped from the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge into the Delaware River, Coast Guard officials said Saturday.
The Coast Guard responded to a report of a person in the water at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, officials said. The woman reportedly jumped from the center span of the bridge, which connects Burlington County to Philadelphia.
According to officials, a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Air Station Atlantic City responded to assist.
Several agencies have joined the search, including marine units from the Palmyra Fire Department, Philadelphia Police Department, New Jersey State Police and the Burlington County Bridge Commission Police Department, which is leading the operation.
Crews from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia searched into the night Saturday and resumed Sunday at first light, the agency said.
