Did the woman, now known as “Phillies Karen”, lose her job as an administrator at the Hammonton New Jersey Public School District after a viral video showed a confrontation over a home-run ball? No, that’s not true: Posts falsely identified the woman in the video as an administrator in Hammonton School District. The school published a statement on Facebook stating that “the woman identified on social media as “Phillies Karen” is not, and has never been an employee of the Hammonton Public Schools”.

One social media post (archived here) was published on Facebook on Sept. 7, 2025 with a slideshow of eight screenshots and memes derived from the “Phillies Karen” incident. The caption of the post contained the contact information for Hammonton Public Schools. It opened:

Her name is Leslie-Ann Kravitz and as the image states she is a administrator in the Hmmonton, New Jersey school district!! I am going to contact the school district demanding she be fired and I have contacted friends who are going to do the same thing – I hope all of you will join me in getting her fired!!! Also, she should be banned from all baseball games from here on!!

Contact information:

The scope of this fact check will not extend to confirming the identity of the woman in the video, since the school district refutes the identification of her as their colleague. Two names, Leslie-Ann Kravitz and Cheryl Richardson Wagner, have been circulated as the identity of “Phillies Karen”. It is unclear how the name of the district was brought into the controversy, but neither of these names appears in an advanced Google search of the Hammonton School District website, (“Leslie-Ann Kravitz” site:hammontonps.org) or (“Cheryl Richardson Wagner” site:hammontonps.org).

The Hammonton School District published a statement (archived here) on Facebook on Sept. 6, 2025. It reads:

Statement from the Hammonton Public Schools

The woman identified on social media as “Phillies Karen” is not, and has never been an employee of the Hammonton Public Schools Located in Hammonton, New Jersey. Social media and news reports indicating that she is, are incorrect.

Anyone who works for our school district, attended as a student or lives in our community would obviously have caught the ball bare-handed in the first place, avoiding this entire situation.
