A coalition of young progressives under the banner of the APC Youth Strategic Alliance for Continuity has called on Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmad Aliyu, to seek re-election in 2027.
Describing his leadership as transformative, inclusive, and people-driven, the youth promised to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms for the governor.
Speaking at a press conference in Sokoto, on Sunday, the Director-General of the group, Musa Ladan, said the appeal was a unanimous decision by thousands of youths across the state who believed that one term was not enough for the governor to consolidate on his achievements.
“As a symbol of our total loyalty and appreciation, we, the youth of Sokoto State, have resolved to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms for His Excellency when the time comes.
“This is our way of saying thank you and reaffirming our solid support,” Ladan said.
He noted that under the present administration, every local government area in the state had an ongoing or completed project, ranging from roads, schools, hospitals, and water systems to electricity infrastructure, a record he said stood unmatched in recent history.
“Our call is not based on politics of interest but on visible achievements and undeniable progress
“Dr Ahmad Aliyu has proven to be a visionary leader who is rebuilding the new Sokoto Caliphate, one founded on peace, unity, and development,” he said.
On workers’ welfare, the group commended the governor for implementing the new minimum wage, ensuring timely payment of salaries, and settling outstanding gratuities and retirees’ benefits.
They also lauded his support for religious institutions through regular allowances to Imams and Na’ibs, as well as his continued promotion of Islamic education and moral guidance across the state.
On security, Ladan noted that the governor had strengthened the State Security Watch, improved coordination among agencies, and provided increased logistical support to combat banditry and other crimes — making Sokoto “safer and more stable.”
The group also highlighted Aliyu’s introduction of new state-wide transformation initiatives empowering youths, traders, and entrepreneurs, especially at the grassroots level.
The statement concluded with a renewed pledge to continue supporting the governor’s administration and to work collectively toward building “a peaceful, prosperous, and united Sokoto for all.”
