The Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated the newly constructed 13-kilometre Nzam road connecting the local government and other communities.
It was gathered that for years, the headquarters of Anambra West LGA had been long neglected due to a lack of a motorable access road.
Speaking during his visit to various markets and locations, after the commissioning of the road on Wednesday, Soludo declared that the barrier that prevented residents of the area from commuting on a tarred road has finally been overcome, declaring that with the commissioning, residents can now commute on a tarred road.
The governor highlighted other fulfilled commitments made by his administration since taking office, adding, “This is an emotional journey for me. I made a promise accompanied by a significant consequence during the last gubernatorial campaign.
“Today, that promise has been fulfilled as we can now drive into Nzam in September. I welcome prominent figures from Anambra West politics who have chosen to join the strong political movement of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, which is like a ‘religion’ in the state.”
The governor emphasised that his current focus is on project inspection, commissioning, and launching initiatives, insisting that he is committed to an agenda with a set timeline.
“We are on a mission of transformation and development, reaching out to those who have been overlooked and neglected,” he added.
The state Commissioner for Local Government, Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, noted the significant changes in the political landscape, adding that every local government area has benefited from the democratic dividends in less than four years under Soludo’s leadership.
During the event, the State Chairman of the APGA, Ifeatu Obiokoye, welcomed new members from other political parties who joined APGA.
Obiokoye recalled when the governorship campaign train stopped at Mmiata Anam for the open-air campaign, thanking Soludo for delivering on his promise to connect Nzam.
On behalf of the new members, Chief John Ozoemena pledged unwavering support to ensure that Soludo and APGA are re-elected for another term of four years.
