PINE KNOT, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Pine Knot lumber yard was devastated by a large fire, which crews from five fire departments, emergency personnel, and multiple law enforcement agencies battled from late Friday night through the early hours of Saturday morning.
Around 3 a.m. on Oct. 11, after clearing the scene once the fire had been extinguished, officials with the Pine Knot Fire Department announced that there were still active embers beneath metal in the area.
Those passing Pine Knot Lumber were asked to call 911 if they felt that nearby structures were in danger.
“Our condolences to the business owners and employees for their loss,” Pine Knot fire officials wrote.
An investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing.
