Nigerian singer Naira Marley has issued a strong caution to young Nigerians about the risks of sports betting.
Taking to his X handle on Sunday and cited by PUNCH Online on Monday, the artist warned against relying on betting as a primary source of income, emphasising its unpredictability and potential to become harmful when overused.
His comments come amid rising concerns about the impact of gambling addiction on Nigeria’s youth, especially in the face of economic hardship and unemployment.
Naira Marley, in his warning, also spoke about the dangers of being addicted and reliant on betting.
“Football bet no be work bro. Please stop before they finish you. You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way,” he wrote.
