(NewsNation) — Multiple people have been injured in a shooting at a southern New Hampshire country club, and police said a suspect was in custody.
The shooting occurred at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, the local police department said on social media Saturday evening. Authorities initially said one of two suspects was at large but later clarified that a single shooter was detained and there was no danger to the public.
Manchester television station WMUR reported one victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and another half dozen people were being treated for injuries that were not from gunshots.
Police urged the public to avoid the area and said The Sheraton Hotel, 11 Tara Boulevard, was designated as a “unification site.” Anyone with information was asked to call (603) 594-3500.
“I’m closely monitoring the tragic reports of a shooting tonight at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire Nashua community as we await more information,” U.S. Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-N.H., told the TV station.
