Emergency personnel were called to the scene and took the girl to a hospital. She was pronounced dead by staff shortly after arriving.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the teenage girl was inside a home when gunfire from an unknown suspect(s) came from outside the home and hit the girl inside.

At this time, there is no suspect in custody; however, crime scene investigators and homicide detectives are canvassing the area and searching for evidence.

If you or anyone you know has information regarding the deadly shooting, KCPD asks that you call homicide detectives directly at (816) 234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at (816) 474-8477.
