NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Kyle Eckmann, 21, will be held until his trial on charges of kidnapping and child abuse. Eckmann is accused of convincing a 15-year-old girl to meet him in Texas. According to officials, Eckmann then took the teen back to New Mexico. A license plate reader tracked him in New Mexico. New Mexico State Police arrested Eckmann near Deming after a chase where he flipped over a median on I-10 and landed in three feet of water after crashing through a barbed wire fence.

The 15-year-old was not injured. Eckmann threatened to shoot the police before he was taken into custody.

He’s facing charges of kidnapping, child abuse, bribery of a witness, aggravated assault upon a peace officer, and aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer.
