President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, on his 60th birthday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Lawal for his dedication to the development of Zamfara and his commitment to peace and security in the state.

The statement is titled ‘President Tinubu congratulates Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal on his 60th birthday.’

Tinubu assured the governor of the Federal Government’s support in tackling the state’s challenges while encouraging him to sustain efforts in good governance, unity, and sustainable development.

“Dear Governor Dauda Lawal, on behalf of the government and the people of Nigeria, I wish you good health, strength, and divine wisdom as you continue to serve the people of Zamfara State and the nation,” the President said.

Lawal, born on September 2, 1965, is the sixth democratically elected Governor of Zamfara State.

Before venturing into politics, he had a distinguished career in the banking sector, rising to become an Executive Director at First Bank of Nigeria.

He was elected governor in March 2023 after defeating the then incumbent governor and now the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, in a closely watched contest and has since focused on addressing insecurity, improving education, and driving economic reforms in the state.
