The South-East leader of the Tinubu Support Organisation, George Agbakahi, has sharply criticised the African Democratic Congress, calling their ongoing campaign efforts a “dangerous distraction” from Nigeria’s real development priorities as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
In an interview on Arise News on Friday, Agbakahi accused the ADC of excessive and unproductive political campaigning.
He claimed that while the ADC’s publicity secretary, Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi, is actively pushing the party’s message across social, electronic, and print media, there has been no official campaign activity from the ruling All Progressives Congress or the presidency.
“These are independent groups showing support for APC. They have every right to do so under freedom of expression,” he said. But he laments that the ADC is constantly in campaign mode.
Agbakahi also accused opposition parties of lacking vision and agenda, stating, “All we are hearing from the African Democratic Congress is just abusing the current administration. There is no vision. There is no policy. There is no agenda. I think what we see is like old wine in a new bottle. All of them in the African Democratic Congress are about the same.”
He emphasised the APC’s commitment to progress and the welfare of Nigerians, pointing out achievements under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“The point remains that APC and President Bola have done a whole lot to improve the well-being of Nigerians. That’s just the truth. We all know that inflation has come down. When President Bola came on board, inflation was about 40.50. As we speak, inflation has come down drastically to 22.22 percent. A lot is happening.”
Agbakahi further highlighted infrastructural development in the southeast, noting,
“Go to the South-East and see exactly what is going on there. The president has done a whole lot concerning infrastructural development in the South-East. Almost all the major roads in the southeast are now under construction. Go to Enugu-Onitsha Road, which has not been touched by previous administrations. It is under construction. Go to Enugu-Port Harcourt Road. The same thing is applicable. It’s working. Aba to Ikotepene, which has not been touched for the past almost 18 to 20 years, is currently under construction as we speak.”
He also referenced the South-East Development Commission’s role, adding, “The issue of South-East Development Commission, SEDC, with 150 billion naira for them to use in economic development, is working. The president has done a lot in the South-East.”
The Tinubu Support leader concluded by warning against political distractions that undermine the country’s unity and progress. “If anybody talks about a parallel government, me, I think they should be rebuked and condemned,” he said.
