  • Tom Brady opened a new CardVault store in New York City on Oct. 8

  • Less than two weeks later, on Oct. 20, a suspect stole $9,710 in collectible cards

  • The New York Police Department is currently searching for the suspect

Tom Brady’s new CardVault store in New York City was the subject of a robbery on Oct. 20, the New York Police Department said in a Nov. 12 news release obtained by PEOPLE.

A male suspect stole $9,710 in collectible baseball and Pokémon cards at around 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 20. The unidentified suspect attempted to purchase merchandise using a credit card.

But the transaction was declined, and the suspect “began to enter manual prompts into the contact payment terminal without the employee’s knowledge to bypass the transaction being declined,” the NYPD news release said.

He left the store and traveled southbound on Lafayette Street. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is being investigated for grand larceny. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts, white socks, white sneakers and carrying a multicolored bag.

The NYPD’s Financial Crimes Task Force is investigating the crime, ABC News reported.
