Nov. 5 (UPI) — Two New Jersey males were arrested this week for their alleged connections to a thwarted ISIS-inspired Halloween terror attack in Michigan.
Law enforcement arrested a 19-year-old on Tuesday at Newark Liberty International Airport and a 20-year old on Wednesday and identified them as Tomas Kaan Jiminez-Guzal and Milo Sedarat, NBC News reported.
Both are residents of Montclair, but reports don’t identify which is 19 and the other 20.
They were allegedly part of the same online group that led to the arrest of three in Michigan for allegedly plotting an ISIS-inspired terror attack on Halloween and scouting an area in Ferndale, Mich., that is noted for having LGBTQ bars.
The pair were discussing their own alleged planned terror activity in New Jersey and their plans to travel to Syria, according to CNN.
The 19-year-old initially had scheduled a flight to Turkey on Nov. 17 and then to Syria to join ISIS.
After learning of the raid on the Detroit-area home and a storage unit related to the Michigan terror plot, he changed his departure date to Tuesday, law enforcement said.
Federal law enforcement noticed he changed his scheduled flight to Tuesday and arrested him at a food court inside the Newark airport.
The two men were scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey.
Their arrest also occurred after the Department of Justice on Friday arrested and charged several individuals in Michigan for alleged firearms violations related to the Michigan terror plot.
“This newly unsealed complaint reveals a major ISIS-linked terror plot with multiple subjects arrested in the Eastern District of Michigan targeting the United States,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said Monday in a news release.
“Subjects had multiple AR-15 rifles, tactical gear and a detailed plan to carry out an attack on American soil,” Bondi said.
The Department of Justice announced the arrests on Monday but did not say how many suspects were arrested and charged.
