The University of Lagos School of Postgraduate Studies is set to host its 2025 Annual Lecture.

The Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee of the lecture, Dr Tayo Popoola, in a statement made available to Saturday PUNCH, said the event, themed “Postgraduate Education: Setting Agenda for National Development”, aimed to underscore the pivotal role advanced education plays in driving innovation, capacity building, and socio-economic progress.

Popoola said the lecture which would be held on August 14, 2025 at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall of the university, would gather scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and members of the university community to engage in discourse on the future of postgraduate education in Nigeria.

According to him, the occasion will feature a Former Head of the Federal Civil Service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Oladapo Afolabi, as the Guest Speaker, bringing his wealth of experience in governance and public administration to the discourse.

The statement read, “The event underscores the university’s commitment to repositioning postgraduate education as a strategic tool for addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges.

“Stakeholders from academia, government, the private sector, and the general public are invited to attend and contribute to the conversation on how postgraduate institutions can set a transformative agenda for national development.”
