Virginia Beach Public Schools will host a Back-to-School Care Fair from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the convention center, 1000 19th St.
The free event is open to families attending the city’s public schools, and will feature more than 100 youth-serving community partners. Free backpacks will be available to the first 4,000 students.
Students can also receive free haircuts, vision screenings, school entry physicals and required school vaccinations for seventh and 12th graders. Sports physicals will not be offered at the event. To receive a physical and/or vaccinations, parents should bring an ID, vaccination record and insurance card (if available).
Participants have an opportunity to learn about programs and resources including: visual and performing arts, special education, gifted education, sports and physical education, health care resources, literacy programs, pre-kindergarten programs, after-school programs and more.
Bus transportation is available from select locations.
