  • A professor with Bentley University in Massachusetts has not been seen since Nov. 15, 2025

  • Wiley Davi, 57, “was last known to be on Peaks Island” off the coast of Maine, according to authorities

  • School officials called Davi a “beloved” member of the community

A college professor from Maine has disappeared.

Wiley Davi, a 57-year-old professor at Bentley University, a business school in Waltham, Mass., “was last known to be on Peaks Island,” where they live, on Saturday, Nov. 15, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Peaks Island is located in Casco Bay, just off the coast of Portland, Maine’s most populous city.

Davi is listed on the university’s website as being a professor in English and Media Studies who has a doctorate’s degree from Tufts University.

Among Davi’s primary research and interests is diversity, equity and inclusion and they have had work published in multiple journals and publications, and have won a dozen awards.

In a statement, school officials called Davi a “beloved” member of the community, according to FOX affiliate WFXT.

“Wiley is a longtime and respected professor and a friend to students, faculty and staff on our campus,” school officials said. “Our hearts and minds are with Wiley, their loved ones and the first responders who are leading the search, and we are hoping and praying for Wiley’s safe return.”

Bentley University did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Maine Game Wardens said they are working with several agencies as search efforts continue.

Currently, the Maine Warden Service “is concentrating search efforts on the trails and wooded areas of the island” while Maine Marine Patrol searches the waters along Peaks Island.

Additionally, authorities have asked the public “to stay off the walking trails on Peaks Island…so as not to interfere with searchers.”

Meanwhile, nearby residents have been “encouraged to check any sheds or outbuildings on their property for Davi.”

Davi is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing about 155 lbs and having gray hair, according to Maine Game Wardens. “It is unknown what Davi was wearing,” they added.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call Portland Police at 207-874-8479.
