Iowans will have a rainy start to the first day of the 2025 Iowa State Fair as thunderstorms sweep across central parts of the state.

What’s the forecast in Des Moines?
Widely scattered thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the morning, according to National Weather Service Des Moines. Severe weather threats are low, but some storms could produce brief gusty winds.
By noon, storms should be wrapping up, bringing a high of 88 degrees to Des Moines. It’ll drop to 74 degrees Thursday night, with partly cloudy skies.
