Tickets sold in Missouri and Texas will split the second-largest Powerball jackpot on record — $1.787 billion — after both matched all five numbers and the Powerball in the Sept. 6 drawing.
The Texas Lottery announced early the next morning where its winning ticket was sold, but the Missouri Lottery didn’t release information about its winner until Monday, Sept. 8.
There were several million-dollar winners in Saturday’s drawing, including one in Florida. A quick pick ticket sold in New Port Richey is worth $1 million after matching five numbers.
Here’s what you should know.
Did anyone win Powerball $1.79 billion jackpot Sept. 6?
Yes.
Two tickets matched one of the largest jackpots of all time. The tickets were sold in Missouri and Texas. They’ll split the $1.79 billion jackpot.
The Texas ticket was sold at a Big’s 103 in Fredericksburg, becoming the largest jackpot prize in Texas Lottery history.
The Missouri ticket was sold at a QuikTrip in St. Louis, according to the Missouri Lottery. It was the “highest jackpot prize won in Missouri to date,” said Missouri Lottery Executive Director Lester Elder.
How much money will the Powerball winners get? What are the options?
The Powerball jackpot from the Sept. 6 drawing was the second-largest on record: $1.787 billion.
According to lottery officials in both Missouri and Texas, the ticketholders may choose between two options:

one lump-sum payment of $410.3 million, or
-
receiving the full amount of $893.5 million in 30 graduated annuity payments.
Both prize options are before taxes.

How do you play Powerball?

For an additional $1 per play, the Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times! The Match 5 prize with Power Play is always $2 million.
The multiplier number is randomly selected before each drawing, and the 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less.

The Florida Lottery said its scratch-off tickets and Fast Play game prizes “must be claimed within 60 days of the official end-of-game date. Once the applicable time period has elapsed, the related Florida Lottery ticket will expire.”
Can Florida Lottery winners remain anonymous?
According to Florida Lottery’s website, winners cannot remain anonymous: “Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner’s name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information.”
However, the site states, the “names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner.”
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.
