Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered that U.S. and Ohio flags be flown at half-staff to honor the children killed in a Minneapolis school shooting on Aug. 27.

The order is for all public buildings and grounds throughout the state until sunset on Aug. 31.

Two children were killed and at least 17 people were injured when a shooter fired through the windows of a Minneapolis Catholic Church toward young students worshiping at Mass, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at Annunciation Church, which also houses a school, just before 8:30 a.m., authorities said. The shooter approached the outside of the church building and fired inside toward the children sitting in pews, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said.

The two children killed were ages 8 and 10. Fourteen of the 17 injured were children, and two of them are in critical condition, O’Hara said.
