Fall might just be starting now, but some Floridians might be thinking ahead to winter. Will it actually be cold?
The Old Farmer’s Almanac has officially released its 2025-2026 winter weather forecast and seasonal outlooks, which include some interestingpredictions for Florida.
A rare winter snowstorm hit North Florida and the Panhandle in January, bringing a blanket of snow and ice to millions of residents. Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm’s hit, with 31 counties canceling school and airports closing due to the weather.

But first, what will the weather be like in the fall in Florida?
Old Farmer’s Almanac 2025 Fall Forecast.
Unfortunately, it will be a while before we see cooler temperatures.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a “warmer-than-normal” autumn. A hot and dry fall is forecasted for most of the U.S., including Florida. See its predictions for fall:
-
September: Avg. temp 82 degrees (1 degree above normal); 4.5 inches of rain (3 inches below normal). Expect warm weather with scattered thunderstorms early and mid-month, followed by cooler conditions with regional showers late.
-
October: Avg. temp 76° (near normal); 2.5 inches of rain (2 inches below normal). Mostly sunny and mild, with a few scattered showers and a cooler finish.
NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is also forecasting temperatures for September through November across most of Florida to be above average. Across the Panhandle and North Florida, temperatures are “leaning above” average.
Will it snow in Florida again? What the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts
According to Farmer’s Almanac, the farthest south they predict snowfall is in the southern Appalachian states, which include Florida’s neighbors, Alabama and Georgia.
However, it is possible that cities in the panhandle might see some flurries. So make sure to unpack your winter coats, hats and gloves ahead of time.

Old Farmer’s Almanac winter predictions for Florida, the South
The Old Farmer’s Almanac’s winter forecast for Ohio depends on where you live. It could be cold and snowy, mild and dry, or cold and dry.
It is predicted that Florida will actually see a colder-than-average winter.
“Don’t lose track of your snow shovels and umbrellas,” Editor Carol Connare says. “Most areas will experience near-normal to slightly milder temperatures, but from the Appalachians south through the Southeast and Florida, and westward across the Ohio Valley, we’re predicting a colder-than-normal winter.”
Florida, along with the Intermountain region and the eastern Desert Southwest, may also see above-average precipitation.
