A nor’easter that made its way up the eastern U.S. Sunday brought wind and rain across Connecticut overnight and into Monday, taking down trees and branches and knocking out power to thousands of residents.

The storm and related damage has resulted in some road closures. The state Department of Transportation’s traffic monitoring site, CT Roads, reported a handful of closures Monday morning, particularly in the rural hills of northwestern Connecticut.

Many schools and offices already were closed Monday due to the Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day holiday.

Here’s where road closures have been reported as of Monday morning:

Kent: Route 341, also known as Segar Mountain Road, is closed between Davis Road and Richards Road due to a tree down with utility wires, the DOT said. The closure first was reported around 5:45 a.m.

Ledyard: Church Hill Road was closed at Bellows Lane and Sandy Hollow Road is closed, the Ledyard Police Department said.

Litchfield and Morris: Route 63 is closed between County Road in Morris and Webster Road in Litchfield due to a tree down with utility wires, the DOT said. The closure first was reported around 5:55 a.m.

North Canaan: Old Turnpike Road North is closed in the 40 block of the road due to a large tree, town officials said. Power is also out in the area, officials said. Eversource has been notified.

Redding: Route 58, also known as Black Rock Turnpike, is closed between Cross Highway and Meeker Hill Road due to a downed tree, Redding police said. They said the DOT had been notified.

Simsbury: Route 309, also known as North Canton Road, is closed between Pinnacle Ridge Farms and Westledge Road due to a tree down with utility wires, according to the Connecticut DOT. The closure was reported around 5:15 a.m.

Washington: Route 109, also known as Blackville Road, is closed between Bee Brook Road and Sabbaday Lane because of a downed tree with utility wires, the DOT said. The closure was reported around 3:24 a.m.

Wilton: Route 53, also known as Chestnut Hill Road is closed between Thistle Lane and Dudley Road for a tree down on utility wires, the state DOT said. The closure was first reported around 8:40 a.m.
