A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Route 38 in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Marter Avenue. Police identified the victim as 58-year-old Lisa Agre-Brown of Mt. Laurel.
Makiko Cizik, who was driving to work at the time, witnessed the fatal collision.
“I didn’t think anything good was going to come of it because it was such an impactful hit,” Cizik recalled.
She said she was stopped at a red light moments before the crash, with Agre-Brown’s blue Honda beside her.
“The truck cut in front of the blue car. It didn’t seem intentional, but he cut them off,” she said. “Once the light turned green and we all were coming through the light, the blue car came into the third lane and cut off the truck that had initially cut him off. The car flipped over onto the other side of the highway and was hit by oncoming traffic.”
Chopper 6 video showed the blue car heavily damaged in the eastbound lanes, alongside a white truck with extensive front-end damage. Police say the man driving the truck was seriously injured but is expected to survive.
News of the crash spread quickly throughout the township. Drew Higgins said he feared the worst when he heard about it.
“The second I heard it, I reached out to my mom to make sure she was OK, hit up a few friends to let them know. It’s horrible though,” he said.
A longtime friend of Agre-Brown told Action News she had just celebrated her 58th birthday. She leaves behind her husband of 21 years and two children.
Cizik said the crash was a wake-up call for her to drive more cautiously on Route 38, and hopes others will do the same.
Police say an investigation is still underway.
