(WHTM) — A Massachusetts woman is pleading guilty for her role in a nationwide network of individuals who bought and sold human remains stolen from Harvard Medical School and an Arkansas mortuary.
Katrina MacLean, of Salem, Massachusetts, used access to Harvard Medical School’s morgue manager, Cedric Lodge, to enter the morgue and purchase human remains, which she sold through her store, Kat’s Creepy Creations, according to a 2023 indictment.

The scandal shocked the nation, and involved two Pennsylvania men, including Jeremy Pauley, who the indictment said purchased remains from MacLean. Pauley was arrested in 2022 by East Pennsboro Township Police after purchasing and selling human remains on Facebook.
MacLean pleaded guilty Oct. 31 to one count of interstate transport of stolen goods, according to a filing in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. She faces a maximum 10 years in prison. However, prosecutors are recommending she serve one year, the plea agreement said.
Pauley pleaded guilty in September 2023 to conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property. Lodge and multiple others involved in the conspiracy also pleaded guilty to numerous charges.
