The Federal Ministry of Education has commended the Yobe State Government for its outstanding achievements in basic education delivery.
In a statement on Wednesday, conveyed to Governor Mai Buni, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, personally signed a letter expressing appreciation for the stateâs commitment to advancing the basic education sector.
The Ministerâs commendation reads in part: âI write to convey commendation for Your Excellencyâs unwavering commitment to advancing the basic education sector in Yobe State. Your proactive approach is exemplary and reflects a sustained prioritisation of foundational education as a catalyst for development, geared towards improving educational outcomes for the over 967,301 children of basic education age in Yobe State.â
The Minister further commended the Yobe State Governmentâs dedication to ensuring that children acquire the knowledge and skills essential for their success. Notably, the Minister acknowledged that Yobe State has fully accessed its 2024 Universal Basic Education matching grant.
This commendation comes on the heels of a remarkable achievement by three girls from Yobe State â Nafisa Abdullah, Rukayya Muhammad Fema, and Khadija Kashim â who emerged world champions at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom, competing against 20,000 participants from 69 countries.
Governor Buni expressed gratitude for the commendation, stating that it would serve as a springboard to achieve higher targets in advancing education in the state. He also commended stakeholders in education, including teachers and parents, for their support and commitment to the governmentâs policy and programs on education.
